Implementation of E-Invoice

What is E-Invoice?

An e-Invoice in Malaysia is a digital document introduced by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) to record transactions electronically between suppliers and buyers. It replaces traditional paper invoices, credit notes, and debit notes. The e-Invoice contains essential details such as the identities of the supplier and buyer, descriptions and quantities of items, pricing, applicable taxes, and total amounts.

As announced by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, e-Invoice will be implemented in Malaysia by phases was started on 1 August 2024. Supplier's Details

Creates and submits the e-Invoice to IRBM for validation, receives a Unique Identification Number (UIN) and QR code, shares the validated e-Invoice with the buyer, and can cancel it within 72 hours if needed. They are responsible for maintaining records of issued e-Invoices.

Buyer's Details

Receives the validated e-Invoice, verifies its authenticity using the QR code or the MyInvois Portal, and can request rejection within 72 hours if discrepancies are found. They must maintain records of received e-Invoices.
